In any organized environment, several levels of authority are required. A series of levels to help delegate tasks and assign resources to where they will do the most good. The person leading has to understand the project inside and out, giving them the perspective to delegate tasks to skilled employees. When questions or issues arise, this person must be able to rise to that challenge and take charge without dominating the group. An effective leader does not bark orders, but works with the team so all are both invested and encouraged to do their best. The project manager must also be a dependable and reliable individual, one that you know will be there to see the project through and do so in a timely fashion.

Both large and small companies face a unique issue in finding new managers. Larger groups are overwhelmed by the potential candidates.
